Book blurb:

Under any circumstances, the role of the President of the United States is arduous and replete with challenges. The enduring patriarchy of presidents had ended with the first woman elected to this high office in America. This pioneering leader is delighting her supporters and readily converting her critics when she is kidnapped suddenly. But by whom? And for what reason? The unfolding plot is a matter of survival…not only personal survival, but also hanging in the balance is the endurance of the Presidency and the privilege of democracy in America. It will take a very special agent to expose this sinister plot. But whatever the costs, the President must be recovered . . . dead or alive.

An Interview with A.S. King

518yPrkrm1L._SX320_BO1,204,203,200_

  1. What inspired you to write this book?

I love kids. I always have. I wanted to create a new kind of world that teaches lifelong lessons in a fun and adventurous way. In a way that they could understand and want to understand or understand without knowing it.

I’m not a big reader, and I wanted to create something that would pull others into it by just reading the first couple of pages, even the ones that, like me, don’t read that often.

  1. Summarize your book in one to three sentences as if you were speaking to someone unfamiliar with your book and its topic.

A young girl embarks upon a journey to find light and truth in a land filled with darkness.  Her quest brings her face to face with a shape-shifting apprentice and a master Knight.  She is also drawn into an ever-increasing awareness of both the visible and invisible elements of her world.

  1. What is the overall theme (central topic, subject or concept) of your book?

The search for truth and hope

  1. Where does this book take place?

The mythical land of Novus

  1. Who are the main characters and why are they important to the story?
  • Lady Aliatta is a spoiled young aristocrat whose life becomes entangled with the fate of Novus
  • Lavi is a young Transmogrif selected to embark on an important and dangerous mission which will affect the future of Novus
  • The High King is an unseen being who sees all that happens in the land.  The truth of who he is affects everything.
  • Erela are immortal, unseen crystalline beings who carry messages for the High King to the mortals on Novus. They act and speak only on his behalf
  • The Dark One was once as Erela. However, many years ago he left that life and now rules Novus with a dark and heavy tyranny.
  • Chashaks: Like the Erela, they too serve their master faithfully. Their master, however, is known as The Dark One
  1. Why do you think that this book will appeal to readers?

If you’re seeking Epic unique adventures that are clean, but also, action packed and well written. The Quest for Hope is for you.

  1. How is your book relevant in today’s society?

How is it not?  Many people continue to search for truth, light, meaning, hope in a world with headlines so full of the dark and ugly.  This book highlights the fact that even in the midst of the darkness, there is a light that can be obtained.

  1. What makes your book different from other books like it?

Well, these days’ fiction fantasy books all seem like they have the same core things. Magic, Evil characters, and Good characters, and the line between good and evil is often blurred.  Even so, you pretty much already know from the get-go who is going to win and who is going to lose.

The Invisibles Battles Series takes a different approach. We don’t have magic, there’s nothing that happens that can’t be explained. We draw clear lines between Darkness and Good. Yes, we do have the classic fantasy adventure core elements in there. Such as Evil characters and “Good” characters. And a unique world with different species and races wrapped up in an Epic twist that will leave you wanting more.

  1. What do you want readers to take away from your writing?

I want readers to be empowered, encouraged, uplifted, and realize that no matter what happens in their life, no matter where they are. There is a someone who is watching out for them and who loves them.

S. King is the pen name for a team of authors who collaborate and contribute to the Invisible Battles series. The Invisible Battles franchise expands beyond written works into video games and audio books.

An Interview With J Matt

covercamboy

  • What’s your name and where are you from?

I’m known to my friends and family as Joey or Joseph (as that’s my given name), but online I generally go by the username J Matt. Seeing as my debut memoir ‘Cam Boy’ is so closely linked to my online persona, and the username I perform under, it seemed only natural to publish it under this moniker.

  • What‘s your most recent book about?

It’s called ‘Cam Boy’ and is an exploration into the world of online camming through my time spent as an webcam performer for a primarily gay audience.

  • Do you have a specific writing style?

Straight to the point. Bold. Explicit. Controversial some might say…. My writing isn’t for everyone, but it’s honest and raw and it comes from the heart. I really do put my all into my work.

  • Whatare obstacles that come in the way of writing?

I need to pretty much work in an environment that’s silent, or as close to silent as can be when I’m writing. Television, music and having other people around me in close proximity are big distractions for me.

  • Whatsthe most memorable thing asked/said by a reader about your work?

‘I noticed when I was reading your book that the time just flew by – I couldn’t put it down!’ – I think that’s one of the biggest compliments that any writer can get. I’d hate for anyone to call my work boring or repetitive.

  • Howlong have you been writing?

Since before I could write! I used to dictate to my mum what it was that I wanted each page of my story to say then I’d go and add the illustrations later on.

  • What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

Quirk? I’m not sure about that one, but I learned an awful lot about some of my not-so-good writing habits when it came to the editing process of my debut book (after sending out advance copies for feedback). I genuinely hadn’t noticed any until I’d had them pointed out to me! I know I’m a decent writer but I always strive to be the best I can be and any and all constructive feedback is truly invaluable to me.

  • Howlong does it take to write a book? (if you’ve written one -published or non)

‘Cam Boy’ took me about 2 or 3 months to complete in total. It started off as more of an autobiography than a memoir but I found myself going off on longwinded, fairly irrelevant tangents that added little to the story. I realised that I had to find a primary focus so I ended up cutting out a load of the crap and focused on following a rough timeline of events leading up to, and following, my first year working as a cam boy. That made things far easier. Then it was just a case of editing, re-writing, and editing some more till I got to a point I was happy with it.

  • Do you have suggestions on how to become a better writer?

Don’t be afraid to share your work with others – whether in the form of rough drafts, the odd snippet/chapter here and there or whatever it may be. Sometimes you need an outsiders perspective to pick up on things you were far too caught up in your own self to notice. Positive feedback is great for your ego, but there’s always room for improvement. Facing up to the fact that some chapters might need a rewrite, or might be better off scrapped altogether is never a bad thing.

  • Whatdo you think makes a good story?

It varies from genre to genre. In memoir, I think being upfront and honest with your readers about your life experiences, showing vulnerability and not being afraid to admit to your mistakes is what generally makes for the best story.

  • Finally, is there anything you’d like to share with the readers?

Shameless plug – ‘Cam Boy’, my debut memoir is available to purchase on Amazon from April 1st 2016 at the following link – http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cam-Boy-debut-memoir-J-Matt-ebook/dp/B01D7Y1KX6/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1458562540&sr=1-2

Describe yourself in five words.

I am a joyful, passionate, approachable, sociable and visionary person.

What fact about yourself would really surprise people?

I absolutely love cuddly toys and can’t resist buying cute ones.

What makes you happiest?

Spending quality time with my family is definitely first on my list.

 Why do you write?

I love sharing information and practical tips that will be beneficial to people.

Have you always enjoyed writing?

Yes, from when I was a child, but I kind of stopped writing for a long while.

What writing are you most proud of?

Online Business Exposure.  It’s a self-help book for small businesses that will arm them with tools they need to get exposure and be found on Google, so they can generate business.

What are you most proud of in your personal life?

I am mega proud of my three absolutely amazing children! They are absolutely fab! They bring so much joy, every time I think about them I smile and I am so grateful that I have them in my life.

What books did you love growing up?

I grew up reading romantic books such as Mills and Boon, Barbara Cartland, Jane Austen, Emily Bronte. I also enjoyed reading books from other authors such as Jeffrey Archer, James Hardly Chase Sidney Sheldon, Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare

How did you develop your writing

Simply by writing and self-critiquing.

What is hardest – getting published, writing or marketing?

I believe marketing is the hardest of the three.

What marketing works for you?

Social media marketing is my best strategy.

Do you find it hard to share your work?

No, not really. I enjoy sharing my work.

Is your family supportive? Do your friends support you?

My family is 100% supportive! I also have friends who support me as well.

What else do you do, other than write?

I am a Social Media and Reputation Management Strategist, so I run successful marketing campaigns for businesses using the latest social media strategies and I also help them manage their online reputation. I also conduct training sessions teaching and equipping organisations with cutting edge tools about these subjects.

What other jobs have you had in your life?

I studied Law so worked as a Lawyer for a short while; I have also run a few online businesses.

If you could study any subject at university what would you pick?

It would be computer programming!

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Hawaii, because of its unsurpassed Natural Beauty and Unmatched Laid-back Lifestyle!

Where do you live right now?

I live in London, UK

Tell us about your family?

I have a wonderful husband; we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in January 2016. I also have 3 absolutely incredible grown children – 1 boy named Bolu – 22 years old, and 2 Girls – Fope – 20 years old and Tani -18 years old.

How do you write – lap top, pen, paper, in bed, at a desk?

Mostly, I write on my computer desk most of the time, but sometimes an idea will pop into my head while in bed and so I will write there and then.

How much sleep do you need to be your best?

6 hours

Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge and thank for their support?

My husband – for his unending and tireless support!

When you are not writing, how do you like to relax?

I enjoy having pampering sessions.

What is the best piece of writing advice you can give?

Find someone who will not shy away from giving constructive criticism no matter how tough it is. That’s the only way to get some honest feedback.

For your own reading, do you prefer ebooks or traditional paper/hard back books?

I like traditional paperback books as I like to be physically holding the book. I underline, scribble and make notes all over my books .

Do you proofread/edit all your own books or do you get someone to do that for you?

I get someone else to do it.

How many books have you written?

I have written two books so far and I am working on my third one.

Are you writing anything at the moment?

Yes I am.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?

It’s about monitoring online reputation. A lot of people and organisations are focussed on getting on the first page of Google. However, it is important to ensure that what shows up is positive, otherwise being on the first page will end up being detrimental to that person or organisation. The truth is, negative information can be plastered online about anyone at any time, so if a monitoring system is not in place to curtail and prevent reputation damage then something that starts up small could spiral out of control and end up being disastrous.

Do you have any plans for more books or other ventures?

Yes I do, I am going to write more books in the area of reputation management. I am also going to be doing extensive work on an organisation that I have recently set up – www.digitallyeducate.org.uk. We are hoping to take digital education to every community including the remotest parts of the world.

What book are you reading right now?

Chris Mason

  • Where are you from?

Originally I hailed from Bellflower California but now I live on a big rig that goes cross country.

  • Why do you write?

Due to the fact that all my children went to an online charter school, I had to find ways to save money and found many free resources through the internet. In fact, I still think it is funny when I first asked my daughter’s teachers for resources that could help her when she first entered the world of online schooling, I only received 3 websites. I thought 3 websites from 6 teachers was a sad state of affairs, so Tutor in a Box was born. That was years ago now. My eldest daughter was in sixth grade then, now she is a sophomore in college. My other books were born out of two things that happened at the same time. First, my family had to give up cable to save money but my kids still wanted to see the then popular That’s So Raven. Second, my mother came up with Mason Day to teach my kids that they did not need a lot of money to give someone a nice gift. Mason Day was when a person was assigned a family member and had to make them something, spending only 20 dollars. My thought was “Oh my God”. I had no artistic skills like my daughters’ and could not build things like my son, but I did have impressive research skills. So the “In the Box” series of books was born.

  • What do you write about?

Right now it’s mainly nonfiction but I have plans for a fantasy novel.

  • Do you have a specific writing style?

My style changes on the type of book I am writing.

  • What are obstacles that come in the way of writing?

Since I live on a big rig a few factors come into play. The bumpiness of the road, available power supply, internet availability and my mood are just a few of the obstacles I face when writing.

  • What’s the most memorable thing asked/said by a reader about your work?

I unfortunately have never been asked anything by my readers.

  • How long have you been writing?

I started writing in 2008 but did not publish my first book until 2013.

  • When did you first realize you wanted to become a writer?

When my books started to sell and I could not find other forms of employment.

  • What is your work schedule like when you are writing?

I write in waves I may not write for two weeks and then write for 6 hours straight a day for the next two weeks

  • How long does it take to write a book? (if you’ve written one -published or non)

It takes me about 3 months to a year.

  • Do you have suggestions on how to become a better writer? Yes, this is a multipart answer.

A.      Write what you love and are passionate about, if you care about it others will because your passion will leap off the page.

B.       Don’t write about what’s popular on Amazon. Stand out and be different.

C.       Have your audience in mind as you write it helps keep you focused.

D.      Match your subject matter to your deliver system. Not every book is good for every format. For example, the “In the Box” series would not be good for the audio format due to its online nature.

E.       Don’t be afraid to outsource parts of the writing process that are outside your skill set. For example, I outsource my cover creation and formatting. This way I can just focus on the writing. This includes marketing as well.

F.       Lastly as corny as it sounds believe in yourself. In the immortal words of Ed Wood “just write, if it is bad it will get better and if it is good it will become great just keep writing”.

  • What challenges do you come across when writing/creating your story?

Writing itself. When I started in 2008 it was my schedule I was so busy I could only write between 11PM and 1 AM. Now as stated earlier I have different obstacles. I also learned no one reviews reference books.

  • What do you think makes a good story?

A unique plot with details that don’t tell but show the story in the reader’s mind.

  • What does your family think of your writing?

My wife is very supportive of my writing.

  • Do you see writing as a career?

Yes, if I can make it work.

  • Doyou have anything specific you’d like to tell the readers?

Yes, if a reader finds a website he or she thinks should be in my books, just email me and let me know and it will be added in the next edition. My email address is in all my books. Also Record Store in a Box is free so pick up a copy available at all major online book retailers.

  • Whendid you first consider yourself a writer?

December 26 2013 at 8:12 AM when the first copy of Video Store in a Box sold on Smashwords.

About Chris Mason, in his own words:

My name is Chris Mason and for the last 20 years I have been a house husband raising three kids with special needs. During this time I received my Bachelors in Psychology and a Master’s in Education. Due to the fact that all my children went to an online charter school, I had to find ways to save money and found many free resources through the internet. In fact I still think it is funny when I first asked my daughter’s teachers for resources that could help her when she first entered the world of online schooling, I only received 3 websites.

All are reference guides to the best free stuff in a particular area. The series currently includes:

  • Tutor in a Box – A guide to free educational resources.
  • Book Store in a Box– A guide to free print and audio books.
  • Arcade in a Box– A guide to free video games.

The Gateway by Jeremy Breitenbach

Jeremy Breitenbach Jeremy Breitenbach

My name is Jeremy Breitenbach.  I am legally blind with cerebral palsy.  I use Braille.  I’ve been writing since I was 15.  I started out with writing original stories based off of The Legend of Zelda and original stories based off a ’90’s cartoon I love called Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, but in the years since I stopped writing the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog stories, but still continued to write The Legend of Zelda stories.  I evetually created an original series based on The Legend of Zelda consisting of 3 books so far.  I also began writing my own original stories based on the anime Dragon Ball Z (which I’m a HUGE fan of); so far writing 3 original Dragon Ball Z stories.  In 2009, I started writing my first real book; a book for adults entitled The Gateway finishing it in 2011.  While writing that I began writing children’s books.  I’ve written four (so far).  Those books being: The Abduction of Benjamin Williams, My Dog George, Tim’s Story, and Lost in Wisconsin.  I also wrote a how-to book entitled How To Read and Write Braille.  In 2014, I came across Author Ronnie C.  Dawson, CEO and founder of Broken Bars Publishing and told him about myself and all 6 of my books.  I e-mailed him The Gateway, and long story short I published it through them.  It’s available on Broken Bars Publishing’s website, Amazon in paperback and Kindle, and Barns and Noble’s website for Nook.  Here’s what all 6 of my books are about – How To Read and Write Braille: details how to read and write Braille, The Gateway: a physicist opens a gateway on a planet within another dimension which leads to an alien invasion; violence and strong language, The Abduction of Benjamin Williams: a family gets betrayed by a neighbor they thought they could trust, My Dog George: a boy’s dog runs away, Tim’s Story: A boy becomes an orphan after his parents are killed in a tragic car crash.  (None of the characters in this book are based on actual people.  The basis for this book was inspired by the story told in Contemporary Christian Music artist Steven Curtis Chapman’s song “When Love Takes You In”, and Tim’s red hair was inspired by the hair color of the orphan boy in Steven Curtis Chapman’s song “All I Really Want”.), and Lost in Wisconsin: a boy gets separated from his parents while they are going on vacation, and due to his dyslexia boards the wrong plane.  Excerpts from all 6 of these books can be found under the “Notes” tab of both my official Facebook page and my personal timeline (for those that wish to “Follow” me).  Here’s what the books in my original The Legend of Zelda series are about – The Hyrulean Civil War: The Saga of King Link, Book 1 (a civil war breaks out in Hyrule), The Rezlorian Empire: The Saga of King Link, Book 2 (an emperor wants to conquer Hyrule), and The Great Moblin Invasion: The Saga of King Link, Book 3 (the King of the Moblins plans to invade the Upper World).  Here’s what my Dragon Ball Z original stories are about – The Return of King Piccolo (King Piccolo returns to Earth to seek revenge on Goku), Turles’ Revenge (Several years after his defeat, Turles escapes from Hell in another attempt at taking over the Earth), and The Return of Garlic Jr.  (The shattering of dimensions caused by Janemba destroys the barrier which separates the Dead Zone from Earth’s dimension once again releasing Garlic Jr).  Excerpts from The Legend of Zelda original series and my original Dragon Ball Z stories can only be found under the “Notes” tab of my personal timeline.  (They will not be put into Notes on my official Facebook page.  So if you are interested in reading any of these particular stories feel free to “Follow” me.)

An Interview With Joseph Pierre

International Book Promotion is honoured to introduce another author who has published a non-fiction book in the year 2014. Life Experience of a Self-Respecting Black Man by Joseph Pierre will enlighten you with a man’s life story that brings you to walk a different path of life. We have released the cinematic book trailer for this book in April.

Joseph Pierre believes racism is being misinterpreted in America. Those whites who had suffered emotionally and psychologically to say no to slavery, segregation , racism, must be recognized and echoed in America. Those whites who had been humiliated, brutalized, and killed due to injustices to blacks must be known to our communities. Being in poverty is not an excuse to get involved in illegal activities. But it is a motivation to become a successful man or a woman in life. Regardless of my deplorable poverty condition, my dignity is first.

The book is now available on Amazon and other online stores.

Now, it’s time to look at his interview Q&A.

How has racism affected you in your life?

The only way I am being affected is when I relentlessly, and unjustifiably got pulled over by the police, I was unjustifiably pushed out of my car, and questioned simply because I was a young black man driving a BMW. The first question the asked me, do you do drugs?I felt deeply degraded that time.

Are people getting more diversified culturally and less racist in today’s world?

Absolutely, people are being more educated these days and the interaction between races is being increased overwhelmingly.

Could you tell us about a particular incident that proves that we are getting better when dealing with race and religion today?

Yes we are being improved. Today we have the first black President in America. The media is very expressive about racism, especially when a black man is unjustifiably killed by the police. These issues are being discussed right now on TV.

Describe yourself in five words

I am a dignified person.

What fact about yourself would really surprise people?

I believe racism does not exist, if it does, it has to be a psychological disorder.

How do you work through self-doubts and fear?

I work through self-doubt by elevating my self-esteem thinking that there is nothing that I cannot accomplish in life. Fulfilling my accomplishments might be time consuming, but eventually I will get where I want to be. In terms of fear I always expect the unexpected so the unexpected will not surprise me when it occurs unexpectedly.

What scares you the most?

I get scared the most whenever I get pulled over by the police. The police do not know the difference between self- respecting black men and black men who are involved in criminal activities. Yes I am afraid for my life. In the mean time I make the police feel comfortable with me by starting a productive conversation with them when they pull me over.

 What makes you happiest?

The ability to understand the basic functions of the world in terms of the way we were, the way we are, and the way we demonstrate mutual respect to each other. I am happy because I realize that my kids will be living in a better, improved, respected United States of America.

 Why do you write?

I write because I want people to be aware of what I have been trough in life.

What motivates you to write?

To provide a better understanding of the naked truth of human nature. How education plays a major role in humans, and those whom have not gotten a chance to be educated, enlightened on certain subject matters must not be negatively criticized but educated and lead to light in the face of darkness.

What are you most proud of in your personal life?

The ability to understand the value of education

What books did you love growing up?

A small text book named civic and morals.

What do you hope your obituary will say about you?

I am inspiring

Location and life experiences can really influence writing, tell us where you grew up and where you now live?

I grew up in Haiti. I lived in the United States of America

What is hardest – getting published, writing or marketing?

Marketing

 What marketing works for you?

It is too early to determine that at this time. My book has just been published.

What other jobs have you had in your life?

Public Safety, insurance, and pharmaceutical.

Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge and thank for their support?

Yes my family members, Dr. Janik, Dr. Greene, Professor Grimstead, Professor Ladd, and all my face book friends.

Every writer has their own idea of what a successful career in writing is, what does success in writing look like to you?

Success in writing is when you have a big audience all over the world which means that your message resonate with many.

It is vital to get exposure and target the right readers for your writing, tell us about your marketing campaign?

I will be having press releases sent to thousands media outlets. I also introduced my book to many Colleges and Universities. Additionally, I will have a radio interview soon.

Tell us about your new book? Why did you write it?

My new book is a continuation of my first book. I wrote it already and the goal is to enlighten the public about things some of them know but afraid to talk about it.
Thank you, Joseph. It was a pleasure working with you on your trailer and we hope that your messages in the book will find the way to people’s heart.

Blurb:

“The United States of America, the land of young J Pierre’s dreams. A country he believed that would change his life entirely; a place where he could rejoice forever. Packed with high hopes and loaded with ambition and optimism, he migrated to this place he considers Paradise. However, not too long after he sets foot in this country, he was forced to face reality and deal with the unexpected. J Pierre narrates his story of the challenges he has encountered in this foreign land; the bouts he has with law enforcers, and the people who deemed to torment him because of the mere color of his skin. As he was confronted with these issues, J Pierre proves that nothing can change his principles and ideals; that an understanding of the human nature can help make things better. As he recounts his real life experiences in this country, J Pierre will make you see what he has come to understand about people, regardless of the color of our skin, and how such misconceptions can be resolved.”

Message to Joseph Pierre:

Dear Joseph Pierre, racism is in different forms and shapes. But always unacceptable. Fighting it is hard as we all are bind to our “cultural background noise” of the environment, parents, friends and more. It frames our human behavior – the one we are brought to and which normally influences, mentally and subconsciously, our values, ethics and morals. A cultural background noise may be blocking your vision on others’ cultural issues. In multicultural environment it is not enough “to listen” but it is vital “to hear”.

Therefore, to fight racism one has to get out of his cultural background noise. How to surpass this? Learning, traveling, meeting different people or cultures with open mind gives you a basis to start changing yourself.

Joseph, I sincerely wish you on your path to consider openness and differences as key elements to fight racism.

The next author we’d like to feature is Kelly Riser.

JKelly Risser knew at a young age what she wanted to be when she grew up. Unfortunately, Fairytale Princess was not a lucrative career. Leaving the castle and wand behind, she entered the world of creative business writing where she worked in advertising, marketing, and training at various companies. Currently, she works full time as an eLearning Instructional Designer, fitting her creative writing into the evenings and weekends.

She’s often found lamenting, “It’s hard to write when there are so many good books to read!” So, when she’s not immersed in the middle of someone else’s fantasy world, she’s busy creating one of her own. This world is introduced in her first novel, Never Forgotten, and visited further in her second novel, Current Impressions. The third and final book in Meara’s story, Always Remembered, releases on May 19, 2015.

Kelly lives in Wisconsin with her husband and two children. They share their home with Clyde the Whoodle and a school of fish. Visit Kelly at http://www.KellyRisser.com.

Message to Joseph Pierre:

Joseph, your message is so positive. I hope its reach is far and wide. It is time that we look at each other and see “human” – regardless of skin color, language, political views, religious views, disabilities, etc. and realize all humans deserve our respect, if not our love. The world has become so much smaller because of technology and social media, and yet, social gaps are as wide as ever.

I have hope when I look at my children, and I know that they don’t see others as inferior or superior. They see all humans as equals. I have hope that, with time, even those who were raised to hate can learn to let go of it, to allow themselves to heal, and see those who are different from them as what they are: different, but equal in all ways.

Congratulations on your book. My best to you!
