So, the 4th question is “Have you felt called in some way to write a book on a given topic?”

1) Author #1 : Gilbert Van Kerckhove

My books are purely generated by by own choice

2) Author #2:  Mike Kowis

Before I wrote my first book, I felt called to become a book author. I’m so glad I decided to go for it!

3) Author #3: Kate Iroegbu

Yes, the title of my book was an instruction from God that I should write the book titled ” Triumph In The Midst Of Adversity” in 2007 at a time it seems my walls were crumbling. My twin daughters were going in and out of the hospital with doctors making the situation worse.

4) Author #4: Umm Sulaim

The answer depends on who does the calling. Yes, I have written publications to satisfy the need I saw.

5) Author #5: Ken Johnson

Yes, in all three of my books, I felt a great need to write them. We arrest over 2.2 million students a year for innocuous offenses no adult would ever be charged with. So, my Restorative Justice books were intended to interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline. Then, my archetype and allegory resource book was written to help my fellow writers.

6) Author #6: Debby Gies

I’m not sure about a calling. But I can say with certainty that when I get an idea about something, I’m sure to write or talk about it in some method, whether it be by a new book or writing on my blog. If I learn something new, I feel compelled to share with others.

7) Author #7:  Pratima Nagaraj

Both my books were born out of a strong inner calling to share my life experiences as a way to inspire people to choose something greater in their own lives.

I have felt called to write inspirational books and poetry and books about God since early childhood.

9) Author #9: Errol Baptiste

Yes I was challenged in a very strong way to write this recent title book After Windrush Scandal: British Government Broken International Law in Shocking History Revelations relating to my background of studying International Law.

10) Author #10: Edna Cane-Swannepoel

The Lord layed it on my heart, to speak about my life

11) Author #11: Kristalen Babb

After praying to God about my life thanksgiving 2014 did I feel He answered my prayers regarding Him using me for His purpose but my soul sake. I was at the lowest part in my life and after praying I felt the need to pursue my dream I dreamed in August 2010. Yes. Most of my books are based on what I experienced in life from my perspectives.

12) Author #12) Steve Wilson

Yes.

So, the 3rd question is “Have you written anything based on your life experiences?”

1) Author #1 : Gilbert Van Kerckhove

The book contain many references to real life experiences

2) Author #2:  Mike Kowis

Yes, all of my books are based on the lessons I learned as an author or college instructor.

3) Author #3: Kate Iroegbu

Yes the entire book ” Triumph In The Midst Of Adversity” was written based on my life experience.

4) Author #4: Umm Sulaim

I have published hundreds of articles that portray my experiences on my website. Each article focuses on a particular experience in childhood, teenage years, early adulthood, or adulthood. Some of the publications were in response to popular assertions that such experiences could not be real.

5) Author #5: Ken Johnson

Yes, all of my writing is based on my life experiences and knowledge. Being a Restorative Justice practitioner, my first two books were about Restorative Justice in the school system. These books were Unbroken Circles for Schools: Restoring Schools One Conflict at a Time and Unbroken Circles for Schools: Training Scenarios. Being a culturalist, and award-winning author, I do a number of specialty edits based on culture, character archetype, and character allegory. A good number of stories I edited were just horrid. The writers had no clue what allegory their character’s archetype was imparting, the culture of the characters, etc. So, that is when I wrote my most recent book, A Quick Guide to Archetypes & Allegory.

6) Author #6: Debby Gies

All my books are written based on my own life experiences. My books cover topics such as: growing up as an emotionally neglected child, living with a narcissistic mother, finding forgiveness, menopause humor, growing my self-esteem, travel observations, and how I kept a marriage going strong despite all the curveballs along the way.

7) Author #7:  Pratima Nagaraj

Yes, everything in my books is based on my own experiences in life. It is real to the core!

Because I don’t have a fiction imagination , all my writings are based on the objective realities in my own life, even my poetry books, and the many hard lessons I’ve learned throughout my long life, I’ve seen a lot of the world’s history go by and have learned a lot of hard lessons based on my own mistakes. I am a survivor of intense childhood trauma, sexual assault and serious mental illness. But I am just a regular person who had to navigate a rather callous mental health system alone and still succeeded in gaining good health, and I think it’s a story worth sharing.

9) Author #9: Errol Baptiste

Yes I have written various events on my life experiences by keeping a dairy.

10) Author #10: Edna Cane-Swannepoel

Yes, this is my autobiography.

11) Author #11: Kristalen Babb

Yes. Most of my books are based on what I experienced in life from my perspectives.

12) Author #12) Steve Wilson

Yes.

June Non-Fiction/Memoirs/Biographies Author Interview Answer #2 “What is the message you aim to deliver from the non-fiction book(s) you wrote?”

Hello everyone! So, the 2nd question is “What is the message you aim to deliver from the non-fiction book(s) you wrote?”

1) Author #1 : Gilbert Van Kerckhove

We must all work together to stop the degradation of our planet

2) Author #2:  Mike Kowis

I try to inspire my readers and give them the tools they need to success as an author or college instructor.

3) Author #3: Kate Iroegbu

To send the message that no matter how difficult your situation may be you can indeed live a triumphant life if you have the key strategies to handle adversity.

4) Author #4: Umm Sulaim

The nonfiction books I authored convey a simple message: Be neutral and the truth becomes clear.

5) Author #5: Ken Johnson

In my latest book, A Quick Guide to Archetypes & Allegory, I seek to assist fiction writers in crafting better stories with more relatable characters. Too few authors worry about their fellow writer. It is my goal for the book to be a base resource for the next generation of award-winning authors and script writers.

6) Author #6: Debby Gies

All my books hold messages in them. I share my stories on various topics on life experiences so that others who relate can learn how I overcame my own obstacles, giving them hope that there is always a way for resolution if we first identify and admit our shortcomings.

7) Author #7:  Pratima Nagaraj

My first book is about choosing to be more vulnerable and authentic. I wanted people to know that vulnerability is a great source of strength and embracing it can change your life remarkably! In our society, vulnerability is considered a weakness and this is the myth I wanted to bust through the book. My second book is about silence and solitude. In this current technology and social media dominated world, we have lost the art of spending quiet time in solitude. Through this book I want to invite people to get off being busy and rushing through their lives and instead embrace moments of mindfulness and silence.

I am not trying to establish a second career as a writer here at my advanced age, but I am striving to build a legacy of fine inspirational literature for posterity and to give people who are in distress everywhere some hope for a better future,

9) Author #9: Errol Baptiste

The message I aim to deliver from the non-fiction books that I wrote must be told on a very accurate account relating onto the subjects.

10) Author #10: Edna Cane-Swannepoel

To be inspired. To never give up on your dreams.

11) Author #11: Kristalen Babb

My life and how my mom raised me set the roots to wanting to write my book. I felt I needed to be heard for the ones who have a similar paths as me.

12) Author #12) Steve Wilson

To Help Build Self-Character

June Non-Fiction/Memoirs/Biographies Author Interview Answer #1 “An author could easily write a fiction book out of some true events to keep things confidential. But you chose to write a non-fiction book. What encouraged you?”

June Non-Fiction/Memoirs/Biographies Author Interview

So, the 1st question is “An author could easily write a fiction book out of some true events to keep things confidential. But you chose to write a non-fiction book. What encouraged you?”

1) Author #1 : Gilbert Van Kerckhove

My topic is a broad investigation of environmental issues. This cannot be fiction.

2) Author #2:  Mike Kowis

I write nonfiction books to help my fellow authors and college instructors. To me, writing nonfiction is just another form of teaching and I love teaching others (I teach a night class at the local college as a part-time job)!

3) Author #3: Kate Iroegbu

The fact that my opening up to share my story will connect more to my readers and also believe that they can also overcome their life hurdles just the way I did.

4) Author #4: Umm Sulaim

The nonfiction books I have authored have been spurred by the prominence of misinformation and disinformation on the topics. The nonfiction books I authored were thoroughly researched, objective, and provided hitherto uncommon knowledge on the topics.

5) Author #5: Ken Johnson

Fiction authors tend to write about how things could, or should, be. I like to tell how things truly are. For me, non-fiction can sometimes be wilder than fiction. Some of the things I write about, most people would never believe it if I had written it as fiction.

6) Author #6: Debby Gies

I’ve always been a truth teller and a sharer of stories of my observations. When I wrote my first book, it was from a compilation of years of journaling about my life growing up with a narcissistic mother. Putting that book together became like a cathartic release. From that book forward, I wanted to continue talking about real life situations I encountered and overcame, wanting to share my experiences in hopes that others may be enlightened. I chose not to disguise my stories in fiction, but to share my truth openly.

7) Author #7:  Pratima Nagaraj

I chose to write non-fiction over fiction because it helped me keep the protagonist/character very real. I felt this is very essential, especially in the self-help genre as real-life characters can truly inspire and motivate the readers to bring in changes into their own lives. I wanted my readers to think – “If she can do it, I can do it too”

I write nonfiction books because I truly believe that truth is stranger than fiction, and my educational background is in both journalism and English literature which is perfect training for a nonfiction writer. But I do go to great lengths to protect the reputations of people who are still living, often by changing their names or by not using a last name.

9) Author #9: Errol Baptiste

I chose to write a non-fiction book due to my past experience as a former anti-apartheid activist and an experienced anti-racist campaigner also got a background in International Law as a student in my fondest memory at Middlesex University had the unique opportunity to spend a semester abroad at the University of Cape Town in South Africa during the Academic Year of 1997/1998.

10) Author #10: Edna Cane-Swannepoel

I wanted to speak about my life. Let people know, things can change.

11) Author #11: Kristalen Babb

My life and how my mom raised me set the roots to wanting to write my book. I felt I needed to be heard for the ones who have a similar paths as me.

12) Author #12) Steve Wilson

Didn’t want people to make the same mistakes I did.

So, the 12th question is “How do you market and brand yourself as an author?”

1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson

Social media pod casting also YouTube channel. Go to city events.

2) Author #2: Else Byskov

This is my branding: Else Byskov is an international authority on the spiritual science of Martinus, the Danish visionary and mystic.

3) Author #3:  Sandra Lott

The best way for all up and coming authors, who are not well known yet to use all the available social media sites. They are free advertisement and many out there. I also have an author page on goodreads.com That is another good source it is like an online library, and when you invest in one, or however many books you choose to give away in their author giveaway program, it is a good way to get your name out there all over the world at a minimal cost. People from all over the world use that site.

4) Author #4:  Sharon Farber

I created an author website, author Facebook page, and made accounts on Twitter and Instagram. I have author pages on Amazon, Goodreads, and the Llewellyn (my publisher) website. I’ve been giving author talks and book signings at libraries, book stores, and spiritual venues. My book was just published on March 8, 2019, so I’m still at the beginning of this experience. I’ll continue marketing and branding wherever and however I can.

5) Author #5:  Mitch Gannon

I try to use Facebook and Instagram. Sometimes I will pay a small amount of money to help advertise. I let The Universe guide me with how to market.

6) Author #6:  Hemal Radia

Before I wrote my book I had ‘followed my joy and inspiration’ and had the idea of creating social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter. On there I shared my quotes and ideas and this led to many followers organically (there were over 80,000 followers on Twitter very quickly and similarly on Facebook). I also had an email database as well as blog. So when I released my book I had a platform to market it from the ‘inspiration’ I’d had previously. I say ‘inspiration’ because at that time I was not as marketing savvy as I am now… so in following my inspiration and joy the best ideas, synchronicities and manifestations kept coming my way. This also included live events in Las Vegas, Gold Coast/Australia and much more. I now work with people one-to-one as well as do weekly webinars where I teach my latest methods and answer questions.

7) Author #7:  Brina Tharishinee

Let me admit, I am horrible at it! But among my 2019 resolutions, is to market and brand myself; creating a projecting platform for myself and I will be doing so, by setting up a social media page where I can interact with my readers.

8) Author #8: Barry Rice

Y One of the blessings I’ve received is to meet and have the opportunity to work with Gabby Reed of marketingbygabby.com. She does a spectacular job and her motivation and commitment is unmatched. I also communicate via emails with my contacts asking that they also help market my book and or speeches. I have a website at seeyoursunrise.com and an active Facebook presence. I have also done various interviews. Each time I speak to a group, I ask the attendees to help out by recommending to their friends, business associates, family, etc.

9) Author #9: Chris Batts

The most important thing is the message and reaching as many people as possible. I am speaking about my near death experience on several spiritual radio shows / podcasts as well as for the International Association for Near Death Studies (IANDS).

10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian

I don’t bother much. I let that side of matters take care of itself, As Appropriate. I write to express and Share what’s in me, to myself, and to the Universe. That’s enough. The information is then out there for anyone to connect to, if that’s their Intent.

11) Author #11: Donald Smith

By getting your name and books out there sometimes word of mouth and possibly on social media and free podcasts and radio interviews

12) Author #12:  Rabjot

Just through Facebook where I constantly share my updates/write ups and quotes.

May Spirituality/Religious Author Interview Answer #10 “Religious or spirituality teachings could be misleading. What is your advice to readers new to these two genres?”

So, the 10th question is “Religious or spirituality teachings could be misleading. What is your advice to readers new to these two genres?”

1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson

What to say or how to say it in a way to catch people’s attention.

2) Author #2: Else Byskov

I think it is important to underline that spiritual science is not a basis for a new religion. It is the basis for a merger of science and spirituality.

3) Author #3:  Sandra Lott

To always judge everything by the Word of God, as God tells us to do.

4) Author #4:  Sharon Farber

Trust in yourself. Accept what resonates as true for you. Make your own decisions about your life and spirituality.

5) Author #5:  Mitch Gannon

To follow their heart. See what book resonates with them. And take what you found helpful and healing from the book and leave the rest.

6) Author #6:  Hemal Radia

Read something and check how it feels with you… read much more and build a balanced perspective that resonates with you. Some material may speak to you on multiple levels and make more sense later. That was the case with my book. I wrote it such that people would have an understanding at first and then upon subsequent readings could understand the material on multiple levels.

7) Author #7:  Brina Tharishinee

This is a very abstract question! Haha Anyways, dear readers (new to these two genres), look at the book as an additional reading material and to arrive to any conclusion or to accept any ideas projected from the books, maybe you should consult the religious priests/teachers you know to validate things you’ve read. Some books can be very misleading as I’ve been subjected to one such situation before!

8) Author #8: Barry Rice

Is the reader’s interest in beginning a religious or spiritual book or attendance at a speaking event motivated by what may be going on in their life at the time (death in family, financial worries, divorce, etc,) or could it be a general curiosity to learn more? I would advise potential readers of the genre to find a book/speech where the title creates curiosity, where the inside/back cover or speech summary provides a brief overview that stirs the desire to learn more. Does the summary provide enough insight that may guide the reader to understanding that any problem(s) they are facing in life may be answered via religious or spiritual teachings.

9) Author #9: Chris Batts

The majority of the stories you hear about people with spiritual experiences are true. It’s a lot of fun to learn about the spiritual world we have no idea about. Have a very open mind. Don’t be closed minded, and have fun with the journey.

10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian

Figure it out for yourself. Take what’s presented and Think-it-Through, To-the-End! Do not accept anything on belief or faith alone, unless you absolutely have to. If it doesn’t Make Sense to YOU, then it will never be a Spirituality you will actually be able to practice.

11) Author #11: Donald Smith

There is going to be doubters and naysayers until they experience a life changing event or circumstance in there lives, they will be dealt with by God when the time is right. Don’t let them discourage you

12) Author #12:  Rabjot

Carry out the exploration at your end and you will dissect the essence.

So, the 9th question is “What is the challenge you face when writing your book(s)?”

1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson

What to say or how to say it in a way to catch people’s attention.

2) Author #2: Else Byskov

Explaining very complex concepts in plain words

3) Author #3:  Sandra Lott

Time to write and learning patience when I feel blocked. When I learn to wait it out and trust the words will flow again, they always do.

4) Author #4:  Sharon Farber

My challenge was to make time to write and revise (and revise and revise) the book and to find an agent and a publisher. I succeeded.

5) Author #5:  Mitch Gannon

I struggle with sitting down and actually writing the book itself. I have so many ideas I want to share that I enjoy the process of fantasizing and creatively contemplating compared to the actually writing part.

6) Author #6:  Hemal Radia

At the time it was my first book so I had to learn the steps in writing it as well as publishing it. I spoke to others and connected to my inspiration. It is almost like a cliche but at the time by ‘following my joy’ I attracted all sorts of resources in my life… for live events as well as in writing this book and the creativity and innovation in various parts of the process.

7) Author #7:  Brina Tharishinee

I have been writing since the age of 10 and I am very consistent with my writing schedule. Never faced any challenges, say the writer’s block and yada yada yada. My biggest challenge these days is definitely is my wailing and tailing toddler and my fussy newborn.

8) Author #8: Barry Rice

Finding quiet time separated from all of the opportunities (presented by God) for a rich, full life. Relishing the blessings and new opportunities God presents every day makes it easy to put my thoughts into context when I schedule my time.

9) Author #9: Chris Batts

Making time to work on it because I have a job and other things in life to do. Being judged because of my experience was something I was worried about too. I was scared of being judged by people I know and have known me for years yet don’t know about my experience. My big obstacle was knowing that those people would hear about or know about this book.

10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian

None really. It’s a joy and a pleasure and writing is fun and easy, because, through Application of what we Share and do, I’ve Trained My Brain to experience writing this way. It’s a deep part of our entire practice and the basis of our Spirituality. To Shift ourselves to experience Life the way *WE* want to.

11) Author #11: Donald Smith

To overcome my personal insecurities

12) Author #12:  Rabjot

Story formulation. Research etc.

So, the 8th question is “It is difficult to market books to readers who don’t usually read spirituality/religious books. Yes or no?”

1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson

I’ve had hard time to market my book do to financial funds and nince.

2) Author #2: Else Byskov

Yes

3) Author #3:  Sandra Lott

To Yes, it is, but I believe I have been led to write all the books I have written. So, If indeed God gave them to me, then He in His time, not mine, will also lead me to the right avenues, or lead the people who need to read my books, to them. You focus on your passion to write and not on book sales, you are a lot happier.

4) Author #4:  Sharon Farber

I don’t know. I’ve never marketed a book before. My publisher, agent, and I are marketing the book to people who are interested in spirituality and mediumship.

5) Author #5:  Mitch Gannon

Yes. Some people feel turned off my spirituality/religious books because of how they grew up with organized faith and religion. My book is for anyone, whether atheist, agnostic, or a follower of a religion.

6) Author #6:  Hemal Radia

The aim would be to target it to someone who is seeking this and at least open to it. Even if someone doesn’t read spirituality books but have a desire and openness then the right book and information will land in their lap, which is what I often hear about in relation to my book. I hear stories of people who have manifested their 12mth goals in 1 month after reading this book and lots of other inspiring stories. So even if someone isn’t usually a spiritual reader they still have desires and if they have an open mind then a spiritual book that shows them how could open up a world they had no idea of before. That is also what I aimed for when I originally wrote my book… that if someone was open-minded and wanted this information but was very new to it they could still enjoy it and learn it from my book. The aim was to write it in a loving, warm, gentle, reassuring, soothing and supportive style which brings alive someone’s spirit in transforming their life.

7) Author #7:  Brina Tharishinee

I guess, it is!

8) Author #8: Barry Rice

Yes. However, when the writer begins their writing by relating to concerns that the reader may be searching for, and the title leads the reader to be curious, i.e., The Power and Blessings Of A Sunrise, getting the potential reader to purchase has overcome the reluctance of some conceivable buyers/readers.

9) Author #9: Chris Batts

Yes. I’d like to reach as many people as possible.

10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian

No, not particularly. One simply has to shift the point of connection to one which is Relevant and Pertinent to them, and then move them from there in steps to where you are at.

11) Author #11: Donald Smith

I can’t say yes or no because I truly don’t know

12) Author #12:  Rabjot

No. The quality of the content should be good and that will be enough.

May Spirituality/Religious Author Interview Answer #7 “What do you primarily aim to acheive with your book?”

So, the 7th question is “What do you primarily aim to acheive with your book?”

1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson

I hope to make a awareness and difference in this area.

2) Author #2: Else Byskov

My primary aim is to spread the word about the spiritual science of Martinus

3) Author #3:  Sandra Lott

To draw people close to the Lord, to help them understand His love a little more and to help those in need of healing to receive it or discover how priceless they are in God’s eyes.

4) Author #4:  Sharon Farber

I want people who would like to communicate with loved ones in spirit to know that it’s possible to learn how to do so. I want to make the paths of beginner and intermediate mediums, especially those who didn’t experience spontaneous contact with spirit people, smoother and easier than mine was. I wrote the book I wish I’d been able to read when I started my development.

5) Author #5:  Mitch Gannon

To help people begin to see there is a Higher Power (God) at work in our world and when we question and clear our beliefs that cause us suffering and pain, we understand not only our lives better by feeling freer, calmer, and peaceful, but also God better. Recovery from eating disorders and addictions of any kind is extremely challenging but I have found that when asking for assistance from God and through the process of self-inquiry we can be free.

6) Author #6:  Hemal Radia

Initially it was in response to the calling from people who wanted to have a book from me so they could transform their lives (and be happier). The book has led to awareness of me and the desire for people to want to work with me and/or attend my webinars to more deeply transform their lives and manifest their desires.

7) Author #7:  Brina Tharishinee

I just find the whole idea of rebirth overwhelming so I thought it would be good to project a fiction out of it.

8) Author #8: Barry Rice

My purpose, hope and aim is to lead others to see and understand that God presents Himself to all of us, every day, disguised as a sunrise (a sunrise to be seen in spite of clouds of confusion, worry, financial hardship and more). With each sunrise God sends His immense love, power, blessings and opportunities to enjoy His bounty. When the reader understands how to build their bridge over any potential obstacles on the way to enjoying their vision, they, too, can feel the hope and purpose for their future. Their bridge will be supported by the strong pillars of their vision, willingness and commitment.

9) Author #9: Chris Batts

I’d like to reach anyone who is struggling and let them know that if they’re here, they have a purpose.

10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian

To Share and raise Awareness of the topics, issues and Concepts elucidated within our works.

11) Author #11: Donald Smith

That my message will inspire people to fill Jesus Christ

12) Author #12:  Rabjot

To inspire life everywhere.
