So, the 6th question is “Did you use references from other sources/facts/science when writing your book?”
1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson
I went on line to look up the statistics of Fatherlessness and what the bible would say.
2) Author #2: Else Byskov
Yes, the Bible – especially The New Testament
3) Author #3: Sandra Lott
Yes I do. Whenever I write on a topic dealing with health, legal or different places I research it. I want everything I include in my books to be factual. I research and list the references I use.
4) Author #4: Sharon Farber
I wrote the book from my own personal experience and training with just a few references quoted.
5) Author #5: Mitch Gannon
No.
6) Author #6: Hemal Radia
My journey has been the culimination of many years of information as well as experience at that time distilled into the words for the reader to impress upon their mind to transform their live (and happiness).
7) Author #7: Brina Tharishinee
My book mainly focussed on a sunken Hindu kingdom of the ancient India which did happen, in fact. And I incorporated the Olai Chuvadi (ancient science of Palmyra astrology) into the book too. So yeah, a little zest of history and science!
8) Author #8: Barry Rice
1 Scripture and I researched anecdotes that added greater understanding (and, a bit of levity) to my book.
9) Author #9: Chris Batts
No, just the source and facts of my own life.
10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian
No. Not in general. Occasionally maybe. Our Spirituality is founded on such a comprehensive platform there’s no need and merely serves to distract. There’s more to it than that. The A+ Philosophy is founded on *Self-Evident* Sensibility. Part of this Sensibility is to not rely on quotes of others, but to make Learning and Knowledge one’s own, to get to that point where we quote ourself. Unless we make Knowledge fully our own, it’s never really Real, and neither are we. If we’re always quoting others, we life *their* lives, not our own.
11) Author #11: Donald Smith
No not all, I was just writing my personal journey from atheism to Christianity
12) Author #12: Rabjot
Yes

So, the 5th question is “Did your faith helped you through the writing and publishing process?”
1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson
Yes cause I wasn’t sure if I was meant to write a book. Since i didn’t have the financial resources or knew what to do.
2) Author #2: Else Byskov
I was helped, not so much by faith but by conviction
3) Author #3: Sandra Lott
Yes, it did, from the moment I began writing my first book, I had this sense that God was going to have my books published. I never had to search really. I emailed one publisher, but upon their acceptance of one book, I felt that I needed to wait. Then a few years later that same publisher emailed me back and wanted to publish all of my books.
4) Author #4: Sharon Farber
I believe that spirit guides help me not only with mediumship but with many (if not all) aspects of my life. I’m certain they urged me to write the book, and I know they supported the entire process.
5) Author #5: Mitch Gannon
My faith did help me. I always pray and ask God for assistance before I sit down to write. With publishing I ask The Universe for the Highest and Most Best means for the book to be published.
6) Author #6: Hemal Radia
Yes… what I shared in the book helped with the process of writing and publishing the book and everything else, including live events and attracting people to subscribe to weekly webinars. Since writing the book I have broadened what I share and apply.
7) Author #7: Brina Tharishinee
Well, my faith surely did help me in the writing-contributing ideas throughout. Publishing…nay!
8) Author #8: Barry Rice
Without question, yes!! I have been blessed over the years in dealing with cancer, heart issues, various surgeries, divorce and financial slowdown. My acceptance of Jesus Christ and my faith in God and in the opportunities He presents upon the horizon of every sunrise has been and continues to be the recipe for the minor inconveniences that come my way. Writing of my faith and my speaking engagements to the many groups I have over the years continues to bolster my own faith, particularly as I hear back from readers and speech attendees.
9) Author #9: Chris Batts
My faith in religion? No, because I didn’t really take to religion. I didn’t have a religion and still don’t have one. Not having a certain faith had helped me write this book.
10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian
My Philosophy yes, which is also my Spirituality, since it’s founded on Core Character foundations, powerful in any situation. This is the focus of my Spirituality, to be enabled and empowered in any circumstance, and thus have one’s Spirituality never be compromised, because it’s built on: The Way-of-Impeccability.
11) Author #11: Donald Smith
Yes it certainly did, during the process it didn’t feel like it was me writing it because The words were coming out without even thinking
12) Author #12: Rabjot
Yes

So, the 4th question is “Have you felt called in some way to write a book on a given topic?”
1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson
Recently I felt to write a way to make a point about Christmas book.
2) Author #2: Else Byskov
Yes, I felt called to write my first book Death Is an Illusion
3) Author #3: Sandra Lott
Every topic I write is something that is within my heart. The titles just come to me and what they are going to be about. I have never had to “try” to come up with something. So, in essence, I feel I am called to write every book I have ever written.
4) Author #4: Sharon Farber
I felt called to write a book about mediumship to spread the word that it can be learned, and teach people how this can be done.
5) Author #5: Mitch Gannon
Yes. Usually any time I write, especially falling under the spiritual genre, I feel called to do so. I have many ideas for future books and plenty of unfinished and unpublished manuscripts with a plethora of content and ideas.
6) Author #6: Hemal Radia
Yes as mentioned above in #3
7) Author #7: Brina Tharishinee
Nope. It didn’t work that way for me. I was just thrilled with the whole concept of rebirth-becoming the driving force for me to work on Janma Antare.
8) Author #8: Barry Rice
Yes, to lead other’s to see and understand that God presents Himself to everyone, every day, disguised as a sunrise (in spite of clouds of confusion, worry, financial hardship and more) bearing God’s immense love, power, blessings and opportunities to enjoy His bounty.
9) Author #9: Chris Batts
Yes. I always knew I had some type of purpose but I didn’t think it was for a book. Now that this book is out, I believe that writing this exact story of this exact event is one of the things I was called here to do.
10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian
Yes. The Biella Series, a series dealing with the New Nobility, a society founded around Nobleness. (And not connected in any way to hereditary nobility.)
11) Author #11: Donald Smith
Yes i do I never written a book in my life I thought it was a completely crazy idea and I fought the urge for a while then it came to a point I couldn’t fight it anymore
12) Author #12: Rabjot
Yes

So, the 3rd question is “Any particular reason you elected to write under that genre?”
1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson
Well not really I just figured my book is a spiritual self help non fiction book.
2) Author #2: Else Byskov
I was impressed by the overwhelming logic of Martinus spiritual science and wanted to share it
3) Author #3: Sandra Lott
It as a passion that grew in me when I was saved; almost as if it chose me.
4) Author #4: Sharon Farber
I wrote a spiritual book because I was compelled to share my experience in mediumship and dispel the belief that it is only for a unique few.
5) Author #5: Mitch Gannon
Yes. The spiritual genre has always been a personal interest of mine and helping others through my personal experiences in spirituality is a passion I hold.
6) Author #6: Hemal Radia
Because it resonated with me and at the time my soul was lit up in wanting to share it… I had been asked by many to write a book as they were inspired by my quotes on social media and it felt right to share what I did in my book.
7) Author #7: Brina Tharishinee
Not really. I like exploring different genres and Janma Antare happens to be my first under spirituality. My other books are based on clairvoyance, romance, the Eastern Illuminati. So yeah!
8) Author #8: Barry Rice
God has abundantly filled my life with blessings and opportunities, in spite of the minor inconveniences of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, early-life heart quadruple bypass, temporary financial setback, divorce and everyday daily circumstances that could forestall my forward movement . . . if I allowed them.
9) Author #9: Chris Batts
My book is a memoir about my spiritual experience, so it makes sense to write a book where spirituality is the theme. My book is “Boom! The Life and Times of a Suicide Near Death Experiencer”, available on Amazon.
10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian
It’s my life. Everything I do is influenced by my Spirituality, which is a deep, comprehensive and cohesive Philosophy, called the A+ Philosophy. It infuses everything I do and write, even my fiction.
11) Author #11: Donald Smith
Because I think people are searching for answers in the wrong place an my personal story of struggles will help people because it’s real
12) Author #12: Rabjot
I did not decide that. It gradually happened over a period of time

So, the 2nd question is “Do you hide the scriptures in your book or not fully quote in order to accommodate everyone including those who are not of your faith with the aim of delivering the message?”
1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson
I am to put the word out there like the rest of the book is written.
2) Author #2: Else Byskov
Spiritual science is not faith based
3) Author #3: Sandra Lott
No I do not. The Word of God says “if anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.” I write for the glory of God, not man. It is when God is glorified that people are touched and healed.
4) Author #4: Sharon Farber
I make no references to scriptures. Mediumship has been practiced for thousands of years on all continents and isn’t restricted to any one faith. If people have a problem with the concept of mediumship they’re unlikely to be reading my book.
5) Author #5: Mitch Gannon
No. I do call God, “Higher Power”, “The Universe”, “Source”, or “Higher Self” and use all five interchangeably depending on the context through which I am speaking about.
6) Author #6: Hemal Radia
When we speak from the place we are all from we all resonate regardless of the words we use… there is an inner awareness and familiarity to what is being shared. Some may not want to see it or refuse to see it and that is part of their journey at this time, which is fine. Others open to it will be lit up because they are hearing/reading what they have been searching for and gives them the confirmation and confidence about their life.
7) Author #7: Brina Tharishinee
Well, I never quoted any verses from the holy scriptures. The whole idea is of course, to accommodate a large range of readers and not confined to just one faith.
8) Author #8: Barry Rice
I use only 1 Scripture to lead reader to understand my earlier feelings of rejection by God
9) Author #9: Chris Batts
My book is not about religion or related scriptures, but about my direct spiritual experience with God and angels.
10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian
I’ll quote scripture where Appropriate, but seldom do. Our Spirituality does not conflict with any religion, and is practicable by all and enhances their religious practice significantly.
11) Author #11: Donald Smith
No I just just give them one verse which happens to be my absolute favorite 2 Corinthians 5:7 I think that verse pretty much answers everything
12) Author #12: Rabjot
I capture the essence of scriptures.

So, the 1st question is “What are some experiences (if any) that shaped you as a spiritual writer?”
1) Author #1 : Todd Johnson
I would have to say the bible over all. But I never thought of it like spiritual writing.
2) Author #2: Else Byskov
I encountered the spiritual science of Martinus
3) Author #3: Sandra Lott
My passion for the Lord and how He has held my heart in His hand many times, from the hardships of being married to an alcoholic & drug addict, to the loss of my youngest son and my marriage. Needing to be loved so desperately, I sought the Lord. He healed my heart and gave me the passion to write. Each book I write are topics within that I myself, have learned and want to pass on to my readers.
4) Author #4: Sharon Farber
My book, Choosing to be a Medium: Experience & Share the Healing Wonder of Spirit Communication, was inspired by my personal journey into mediumship. I discovered a passion for the subject and endeavored to become a medium even though most people think you can’t learn to be one and need to be “born that way.” I persevered, and proved that one can learn to be a medium. I wrote the book to share that mediumship can be purposefully developed. I describe my journey and give step-by-step instructions, including many exercises, to give readers the opportunity to explore this fascinating field and develop their own mediumistic abilities. I also teach mediumship development classes, run a mediumship development circle, and lead mediumship development retreats.
5) Author #5: Mitch Gannon
I have been a psychic, healer, and spiritual consultant for over 10 years which has shaped and formed the type of writing I do in this genre. Not only is this a career but part of my daily life that influences writing within spirituality.
6) Author #6: Hemal Radia
My father passing away (putting a long story short) led me down the path of personal development that later led to spirituality. A search for greater meaning in the coincidences in my life led to discovering so much more and in time writing and teaching others to manifest in oneness with the magic that life and nature intended for us.
7) Author #7: Brina Tharishinee
Not any in particular. I was just fascinated with the whole idea of rebirth and karma; went on to research on the topics and came up with a story.
8) Author #8: Barry Rice
My past of feeling rejected by my birth man and woman, feelings of being rejected by God (I was a bastard child as defined in Deuteronomy 23:2 (King James), teased by my childhood friends for same and being asked to leave a church by a minister after my service in Vietnam (veterans were being labeled as “Baby Killers”, and his statement that “The House of the Lord does not accept Baby Killers”. Later in life, after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and being given 12 – 18 months to live, I was led to see in a sunrise that God had loved and accepted me all along and that He presents everyone with a multitude of blessings and opportunities with every sunrise.
9) Author #9: Chris Batts
My experience is known as a near death experience. My experience was from a suicide attempt. I crossed over to the other side, then I returned. On the other side, I met God and those I call angels in the spiritual realm. We spoke telepathically.
10) Author #10: Syl Sabastian
My entire Life since a Young Man, when I switched to Living via Attunement, which makes everything a spiritual affair. Some specific experiences which stand out are: Living in the desert with nothing, no electricity, no plumbing, no running water, nothing. A profound and fabulous experience. Having a restaurant on top of a mountain on a game-reserve where we got to know, hang out, and be friends with a group of Bushmen. And being homeless on the streets of Santa Monica, a fantastic and fun experience. There are many many others, too many to list.
11) Author #11: Donald Smith
My inspiration for writing comes from the personal journey from a non believer in Jesus Christ into a true believer in Jesus Christ for years I denied that there was a God and that he gave his son for our everlasting life but through my personal struggles I have come to realize for years I was totally wrong and have my life to him and I have a whole new outlook on life he gave me the will to live when in my darkest hours I wanted to die
12) Author #12: Rabjot
Understanding of the essence of the spirituality encouraged me to be a spiritual writer

Hello everyone! It’s time to reveal the answers for all 12 questions answered by 12 author participants in the April Group Author Interview, in the 12 genres, 12 authors, 12 months and 12 questions series! So, the 12th question is “How do you market and brand yourself as an author?”
1) Author #1 : Eric Nierstedt
This has been one of the hardest things for me, and I’m sure, other authors! One of the first things I’ve learned is to get involved in the writing community; other authors can be a great resource. I’ve gotten advice on building websites, newsletters, and social media, all to help me get my name out there as a fantasy writer. The most important thing is to really take in all you can from other authors, and use their skills. A close second is to know your genre. If you understand what fans of it want, then you know how to brand yourself to them. It’s these two things that really make up how I market and brand myself. If you want to see for yourself, check me out at https://www.facebook.com/enierstauthorfantasynovels/ https://twitter.com/NierstedtEric https://ericnierstedtauthor.com/
2) Author #2: M.A.N.
I try to be honest about who I am (an African American male) and what I draw my influences from (anime, manga, comics, books, movies, and trying to combine them into my literature.
3) Author #3: Peighton Weber
I use social media, mostly Instagram and Twitter, to market my work, but I’m also in the process of working on an author website.
4) Author #4: Lisa Lowell
I have an active Facebook life, maintain a web site and blog, attend numerous fairs and participate in groups like this interview session. I also dabble in making book trailers for my books. My publisher does the catalog, funnel and Amazon work for me. At present, I am also pursuing transition to audiobooks and a podcast to go with it.
5) Author #5: Rachael Krotec
I’m learning something new about this every single day! It’s a journey, but I think consistency is key. If money for ads is a concern, then start off with something small, then gradually build. Learn what works and what doesn’t, so one day you can get the most for your buck.
6) Author #6: Mark Piggott
I mostly use social media to market and brand myself. Hootsuite is a great program I use in laying out my marketing/branding over a week at a time across multiple social media outlets. I have to do a lot of it myself, which makes it harder, but it also puts the responsibility on me.
7) Author #7: Chimezie Ihekuna (Mr Ben)
Famed for his G.A.N.G.S.T.A.R acrostic writing style (it stands for Generally Appreciating Notable Genres by Stating Their Applicable Relevance), Mr Ben, as he is popularly called, is a published author, poet, novelist, essayist, voice-over artiste and speaker
8) Author #8: Steve Holder
I don’t have the funds for lots of advertisements, and I don’t get invited to talk shows to talk about my books, so I mostly use social media.
9) Author #9: Dyane Forde
Most of the marketing I’ve done has been via my website/blog, interviews, guest blogging, and social media. I’ve also sold my own books in person (book tables, and contacted brick and mortar stores to sell them on consignment).
10) Author #10: David Chylde
My “rock singer, strippers, dark city life” pretty well sets the tone for prom copy and artwork.
11) Author #11: Irene Helenowski
Social media is a great way to network but also there is nothing compared to meeting people in real life. If you can sign up for a table at a book fair, definitely go for it. Same with registering for writers’ conferences.
12) Author #12: Ellwyn Autumn
By posting my books on social media, helping other authors promote their work and doing book reviews.

So, the 11th question is “Are your books standalone or sequels?”
1) Author #1 : Eric Nierstedt
My books generally turn out to be series; I’m not sure I could write a standalone at this point!
2) Author #2: M.A.N.
At the moment, they’re all standalone, but I do have a series or two planned for the future.
3) Author #3: Peighton Weber
Sequels. My book is the first in a six-book series. The second is in progress.
4) Author #4: Lisa Lowell
Officially, they are sequels, but because the protagonist is different, and the former main character becomes a side character, or even an antagonist, they can stand alone. They also tend to take place at separate times and sometimes, decades later.
5) Author #5: Rachael Krotec
My book, Premonition, is the first in a trilogy.
6) Author #6: Mark Piggott
I plan my novels as trilogies, working to spread the story out into one complete set. Series are better to work with when it comes long, drawn out stories.
7) Author #7: Chimezie Ihekuna (Mr Ben)
Standalone
8) Author #8: Steve Holder
All my books are islands, but if one were to read them all they would see a pattern and some repeat characters who seem to jump from one book to the other.
9) Author #9: Dyane Forde
The books are a trilogy.
10) Author #10: David Chylde
This book will be a prequel to my dystopian series starting with Angel Hunt.
11) Author #11: Irene Helenowski
So far, I have my science fiction trilogy and my standalone road trip book.

So, the 10th question is “What do you think about cliffhangers endings?”
1) Author #1 : Eric Nierstedt
I think they can be a great way to keep readers interested. I generally think of the end of each chapter as small cliffhangers to keep readers hooked on the story.
2) Author #2: M.A.N.
If done right, and if thought provoking enough, they can be excellent. Like all endings it depends on the context surrounding the cliffhanger.
3) Author #3: Peighton Weber
I love reading and writing cliffhangers and it makes me feel really good when readers ask when the next book is coming out because it means I left a good cliffhanger.
4) Author #4: Lisa Lowell
I like hill-hangers, if I can coin a new phrase. In the Wise Ones, I have wrapped up the stories of the characters, but the new hill to climb is set up for the next book.
5) Author #5: Rachael Krotec
I’m guilty of writing cliffhangers, but I think if they’re not done well, then you might frustrate your readers. Ultimately, I want my readers to continue reading the series, not quit because they’re annoyed, so it can be a bit of a risk.
6) Author #6: Mark Piggott
I love them because it makes the reader anticipate what’s coming next. It makes them hold on and wait for the next book. you hook more of them into reading your next book in the series.
7) Author #7: Chimezie Ihekuna (Mr Ben)
The advent to the world as they exert their advantages and dis-advantages
8) Author #8: Steve Holder
I don’t like them, but if I ever decide to write a trilogy or series I suppose I might have to reconsider.
9) Author #9: Dyane Forde
For a book in a series, I think it’s okay. I mean, at least the reader will eventually have closure. I’m not sure about stand-alone books. I guess it depends on the type of book and the purpose behind the cliff hanger. Still, I think it’s best to offer the reader some kind of closure at a book’s end.
10) Author #10: David Chylde
A book should be independent with enough drama at the end to make you want to advance.
11) Author #11: Irene Helenowski
They definitely can set you up for the sequel.
12) Author #12: Ellwyn Autumn
I like them. For me, as a reader, it builds anticipation and gives me something to think about.
