Leadership by Virtue by Jaro Berce – A review

Leadership by Virtue is a book you must read if you are someone looking to upgrade your leadership and business skills. Put yourself as a merger between two companies that have different approaches and expertise. How will you make a mutual understanding between these two companies so that the joint-venture you are aiming for could happen?

This leadership skills explained by Jaro in his book is not just for those who are in business but also for people of all ages. Leadership is a skill that has to be nourished every now and then. These skills shouldn’t just be seen from Western culture’s perspective but also from the East.

As a Tai Chi master and an educator, Ben, the hero in this story takes the challenge as a merger in a very unique approach after consulting with his Tai Chi master.

The story takes you close to understand Ben’s everyday life. Everything is very personal; from the part where he gets caught in the heavy traffic, giving way to people and getting a honk from the cars at the back, right to the scenarios on his office, martial arts class and his home where he deals with his wife and son.

Some minor punctuation errors were found in the book and the use of Chinese terms can be very educating but could slow down the process of understanding the book. Nevertheless, the whole concept of how martial arts and the Far East mentality can help you in the corporate world is very intriguing.

If you keep your mind open to new ideas, this can be a good read for you!

IBP’s Trailer: Leadership By Virtue by Author Jaro Berce

IBP’s official book trailer for author Jaro Berce’s book Leadership by Virtue.

Blurb:

The story is showing from a first-person perspective the internal growing up of a leadership process based on non-Western approach. The main character, brought up in Europe and therefore used to Western “cultural background noise’ although practicing Chinese martial arts, has to learn and understand the differences brought by Far East principles if he wants to grasp leadership from a different angle. On the whole, a Western leadership is thought and understood as an external process of a person that influences others. Most of leadership and management books that deal with leadership and managers describe what and how to do it to be more efficient and successful. They describe tools to use to do it. This is called an external process. Outward, because others see leaders as how they behave or how they use those tools in a leadership style and/or process. But we all live our lives and perceive surrounding environment only from our internal eyes. Therefore, the focal questions raised in a book are the following: Do all leaders have the same fears, problems, and difficulties or happiness, pleasure, and delight in being what they are? What are their feelings when leading people, making decisions, or taking responsibility? How do they sense and perceive their subordinates? In a book, those are called internal issues and are dealt with and described through a different approach-an approach that is based on the Far East mentality and shown through Chinese martial arts and Chinese philosophy. The book has eighteen (18) chapters.

How To Mute The Western “Cultural Background Noise” With Far East Mentality?

Leadership By Virtue

International book Promotion is honoured to work with Jaro Berce in promoting his book “Leadership By Virtue”. If you have watched movies like Karate Kid, you will know what Chinese martial arts would look like and what it takes to be a martial artist. We know martial art is a form of self-protection but what if we say it is also connected with corporate skills?

If you think the vast differences in the two cultures; the West and the East would clash badly and is not acceptable to adapt cross-cultural mentality at work place, Jaro has something to share with you.

He has done it successfully and in this book, he provides deep insights to leadership skills according to Far East philosophy.

We are organising Book Trailer Release event on 5th of January for this book and Jaro is giving free copies of his book (eBook) during this event in exchange for a review. Please contact us if you are interested.

What other jobs have you had in your life?

As a student I drove a taxi, later on I have been entrepreneur, a researcher, a supervisory board chairman, a management consultant, I lead teams and projects, and more.

Why do you write?

Simply, to share! Knowledge is one of the rarest goods which, when shared, you don’t have less of it.

What do you write about?

About different approaches to common practices, the ones that actually work.

What writing are you most proud of?

Everything I’ve written so far …

Do you have a specific writing style?

Yes, I believe so, as my words were recognized under the article signed by a friend reporter. In my book I’ve complemented it with a mixture of western and eastern (Chinese) writing styles

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?

The target is not at the end of the way—the target is the Way itself!

How long does it take to write a book? (if you’ve written one -published or non)

Mine took quite a while when I was still framing it, but when started the words flew.

What is hardest – getting published, writing or marketing?

MARKETING !!!

Do you have suggestions on how to become a better writer?

Try and make mistakes … but never cease trying.

Tell us about your new book? Why did you write it?

Years ago I was asked by a friend of mine: “Could you please enlighten me in understanding how to lead a multi-cultural team.  At the time I had no idea to offer. It initiated a long period of researches at the end of which I published the book “Leadership by Virtue”.

The blurred mix of reality and an achievable fiction.

They are my toughest audience, but they support me.

Do you have anything specific you’d like to tell the readers?

Try to read my book with a calm mind and an open heart

Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge and thank for their support?

Definitively it is my wife Aleksandra. She is often my sparring partner when challenging my ideas, polishing my thoughts into understandable phrases.

We would like to extend our heartiest gratitude to author Jaro Berce for his willingness to be interviewed by our team.
